Protest At BofA

A group of protesters from Occupy Redwood City, Rebuild the Dream and MoveOn.org staged a demonstration in front of Bank of America yesterday, joining with demonstrations in other cities as Bank of America held its annual shareholder meeting in Charlotte, NC. RWC Patch: Photos: Woman Tries to Marry Corporation,

After being stood up at the altar, bride Robin Hansen realized why her groom—Bank of America—never showed up: he wasn’t a real person.

“You promised me a wonderful life,” cried the “bride,” Robin Hansen, to the Bank of America on Jefferson Avenue and Marshall Street. “You promised affordable housing, non-predatory lending and no unfair foreclosure practices.”

According to the January 2010 Supreme Court ruling, Citizens United vs. Federal Elections Commission, corporations also have the rights to make political expenditures under the First Amendment, which has elicited comparisons of corporations to people.

    Barn Dance?

This looks interesting, over in Pescadero: September 17th Work Day and Barn Dance - Pie Ranch

On the third Saturday of each month, Pie Ranch hosts a Community Work Day, potluck dinner, and rollicking barn dance in the roadside barn. All are welcome; come lend a hand in the fields while you work alongside other volunteers and farmers. Celebrate the spirit of community at this monthly ritual of working together on the ranch, sharing locally grown food, and then spinning, laughing and dosey-doing together into the night.

The work party starts at 2pm.

We offer an optional farm tour at 4pm that begins at the upper slice toolshed ($5/person).

Then join in the potluck at 6pm

and dancing at 7pm until about 10pm.

The dance is $7-20 (sliding scale) to compensate Pie Ranch, the County Line Pickers (featuring Jim Davies, bass; Joni Davies, guitar; Josh Lane, mandolin; Ken Clarkson, banjo; Jon Young & Nancy Vail, fiddles) and caller, Andy Wilson.

Children under 12 free accompanied by their parents; if you bring a large group of youngsters (7 or more) we request prior notification and a sliding fee of $5-10 per child. Workday participants pay a discounted rate of $5-15, so come on down and hoe before you hoe down! If your group consists of more than 7, please let us know in advance so that we can be sure of ample space in the barn!

Here are some videos of the dance from the Andy Wilson Caller site:

I went to Angelica's comedy night last night -- they have a free comedy night every Wednesdday -- and one of the comedians was particularly funny.

Jesse Elias, from the East Bay, here is his MySpace page.

Here is a terrible-quality video I found on TouTube:
